Ernie Davis Hall

Ernie Davis Hall, a construction zone in the works for approximately the past 2 years is located right in front of my dorm, DellPlain. Oh, I recall when Ernie was a wee one! It's cool to see the progress as I walk to class everyday. Ernie will have laundry services, a lounge, and multiple pantries on each floor. While at the base, a 500-seat dining hall, 10,600-square-foot recreation facility, and 2,000 square feet of academic space will be located. Oh! and there will be air-conditioned singles. Something uncommon in New York apparently? Well, in the dorms at least.

It's a pretty impressive building, not to mention it's the first LEED certified building on campus--meaning it is completely energy and consumer efficient and all that other awesome hooplah that saves money and the environment. Ernie is "Green"!

It snowed today. Randomly! As you can see in the gray skies. Come back signs of spring!

More coming soon! I have drawing homework to do now. It's the recreation of a well-known artist's painting from color to the value scale. I'll show when I'm finished! Cross your fingers that it's tomorrow before class!!

meet and greet!

My spring break to North Carolina with my parents, here focused at the amazing Biltmore Estate.
Apparently they don't like it when you sketch the gorgeous interior. I would advise against that.

Hello there!!! Welcome to the source of all VPA wisdom and insights; I am your hostess, Samantha. Please have a seat and keep all arms and legs in the cabin at all times, with seatbelts fastened and tray tables in the upright and locked positions. Please turn off all wireless devices and resist the temptation to feed curious giraffes.

Okay so maybe I'm not incredibly wise or living in such an exotic place, but I am currently enrolled in one of the BEST SCHOOLS EVER! ahem. Time for a proper introduction.

My name really is Samantha and I actually am a tour guide! I'm 19 years old and a Fashion Design major in VPA with a Milestone in Newhouse, and I really enjoy it! I was born and raised in Houston, TX where the sun always shines and it's not hot until it's 100+ degrees! Quite a move I made to SU, isn't it? Somehow, I have achieved homeostasis and am doing just swell.

As the daughter of two superhero parents, I am involved in many activities on and off campus at SU. I am active in Campus Bible Fellowship and a nearby Christian church, I'm the Illustrations Editor for the Student Voice (an SU weekly publication), a stylist for various fashion shows and events, and member of the Urban Video Project (community outreach) and the Ballroom Dancing Org. when I have some spare time. This Spring and in the future, I will be a tour guide for VPA in the Spring Receptions for admitted students. I also recently applied for membership in the Honors Program, VPA Peer Advising, and University 100.

I lead a very busy, but very fun-filled life full of tons of opportunities and smiles!
Ask me any minute or colossal questions or concerns you may have, via comment or email! I look forward to hearing from you!

samantha.
